DR. LISA RHODES: Hi, I'm Dr. Lisa Rhodes with Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery. Astringents are often used when treating acne-prone skin. The best ones are ones that contains salicylic acid or glycolic acid because those can help exfoliate the top layer of your skin. I would avoid getting one with too much alcohol in it because that can overly dry the skin and irritate the skin. That's exaggerating your acne.
