DR. LISA RHODES: Hi, I'm Dr. Lisa Rhodes with Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery. Glycolic acid pills are wonderful to exfoliate the top layer of the skin. This can give you a rosy glow, stimulating some collagen production and also can help exfoliate the top layer of the skin to prevent acne. If you're going to go get a glycolic acid pill at your dermatologist's office or at a local spa, what I recommend is stopping all of your anti-aging or acne medications a few days beforehand or else you could risk getting extra irritation with the acid peel.
