DR. LISA RHODES: Hi, I'm Doctor Lisa Rhodes with Westlake Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery. I don't recommend popping your pimples because that could lead to scarring which is very difficult to treat. However, if you absolutely have to pop the pimple, I recommend looking for what's called a commodone extractor at your pharmacy. It's a little metal wand with a donut on the end. It applies even pressure as you pop the pimple thus leading to a decreased risk of scarring. If you don't have one of those and you must pop you pimple, I recommend just gentle pressure, don't put a lot of pressure on there or manipulate the area too much or that will greatly increase your risk for a scar.
