Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, the author of the book Six Weeks to Sensational Skin, is a board certified dermatologist who has made numerous appearances on television shows such as Good Morning America. She holds a degree from Hunter College in New York, an M.D. from Downstate University at SUNY, and did her residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Ciraldo has been a board-certified dermatologist since 1982, and is currently a voluntary professor at the University of Miami, where she runs a clinic in cosmetic dermatology.

DR. LORETTA CIRALDO: Hi. I'm Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, voluntary professor of Dermatology at University of Miami School of Medicine and author of "Six Weeks to Sensational Skin". I have to say as a woman whose just about to turn 55 who does not want to have--I haven't had a face lift--do not want to have plastic surgery, I have to tell you that I'm in love with the idea of facial fillers. I use them on my patient's, and also, I actually give them to myself. Now, what are facial fillers? These are injections. Sometimes they are referred to as a "liquid facelift" because they are injections or products, sterile product that your dermatologist or plastic surgeon will put under the surface of your skin. So, it's very timely that I just inject myself last week with some hyaluronic facial filler, a product called "Restylane" and I did it right along my jaw line because I saw that I was getting some sagging of my chin line. And in fact, I do this to myself about every year to a year and a half, and it keeps with a very nice interval chin line, so that I don't see the sagging. You can also inject facial fillers in areas like the creases of what we call the nasolabial folds through gravity and also loss of tissue as we get older. These often become problematic creases where they cause a lot of shadowing on our face. Another very common place we put facial fillers is in the chin area because, believe it or not, we get osteoporosis of our jaw bone. So, we see a receding in our chin or crumpling up, and when we put facial filler here, it plumps us out and gives us a refreshed look.
