MELISA BROWN: Hi, my name is Melisa Brown and I'm a licensed massage therapist here in Miami, Florida. I'm with U Need A Massage. In this clip, I'm going to talk about giving a Swedish massage. Swedish massage entails mostly gliding strokes, a lot of gliding strokes. I'm using just about a quarter-size of oil and I'm not going to be rubbing it too much in my hands, just enough to put it on my hands. Starting at the ankles, I going to do a gliding stroke all the way up the body, all the way up to the shoulders and coming back down again. My fingers are relatively closed, and they're not open in this manner. I'm keeping them closed and coming back down again. The pressure I'm using is the pressure that's coming from the back foot. My foot is what's propelling me to go all the way forward and coming back down again. And when I'm doing this, I'm doing the whole leg coming back down. It's not just the back of the leg. Coming back up, going around the shoulders and I'm using the whole arm coming back down the leg. And I can do some compressions coming back down too.
