MELISA BROWN: Hi, my name is Melisa Brown and I'm a licensed massage therapist here in Miami, Florida. I'm with U Need A Massage. In this clip, we're going to be talking about how to give a shoulder rub. This is wonderful for the receiver. You can use oil or you can be without oil. Starting with a compression, I'm siting at the head of the table. And with my two hands without bending my wrist too far, I'm going to be going in a position that's very natural for me. And then I'm going to be doing a compression, just pressing down both shoulders at the same time. And I'm not going to fast and I'm not milking. I'm doing both of them at the same time and I'm going out, moving out. Using my fists, I can go in at the base of the neck and I'm just pressing in and pressing out and pressing out. This is a great way to start. I'm going to be using some oil just to give me a little bit more glide and I'm not using anymore than this. It's not more than a dime size. And I'm rubbing it into my hands but not too much so that it goes onto the body and not into my hands so much. And I'm pressing all the oil in. Now, I'm going to be doing a movement that's just like kneading, keeping my fingers tight but I'm not using my fingers and I'm just kneading and kneading.
