MELISA BROWN: Hi, my name is Melisa Brown and I'm a licensed massage therapist here in Miami, Florida. I'm with U Need A Massage. In this clip, we're going to talk about how to prepare your client or your body for a massage. There are certain questions you want to ask. If you don't know them already, ask them anyway. Ask their latest feeling if there is something in particular that's bothering them. You want to have a client that's hopefully bathed and clean and ready when you put them on the table. It's your preference if you want them to start face up or face down, face down being in the face cradle. Certain questions involving: How have you been feeling lately? Is there any area that you'd like for me to focus on? Are there any medications that you're taking? Are there any accidents perhaps that have happened? All of these incorporate a bigger picture of what it is that you're really aiming for. Now, if it's something just in particular like shoulders, then that might be where you want to start or where you want to begin or might it be the last part, so you save the best for last. It's all up to you. Take in mind, medications can be very important, whatever they're using. Accidents can be very important too. You don't want to do it too recently after an accident. Keep all of these things in mind for the bigger picture.
