MICHELLE COOPER: Next we're going to talk about the Biggest Loser Diet. This diet is based on the Biggest Loser pyramid of four, three, two, one: four servings of fruits and vegetables, three servings of lean protein, two servings of whole grains and one extra. This 12-week program incorporates high-fiber, low-calorie, high-protein meals. Also, this coupled along with its exercise portion ranging from 30 minutes to an hour daily makes this a healthy alternative. When I'm analyzing diets, I look for four things. Number one, is the diet reasonable to sustain over a period of time? The Biggest Loser Diet is it incorporates foods from all food groups. Number two, does it have an exercise component? This diet has an exercise component as well. Number three, does it promote a safe rate of weight loss? Yes, the calories here are adequate to promote a safe rate of weight loss of about one to two pounds per week. And number four, does it exclude any food groups or any food combinations? No, I don't see any food groups or any food combinations being excluded here. I think this would be a healthy diet. You could be the biggest loser just like the show with the same name on NBC.
