MIKE VERA: I'd like to talk to you about blisters. Everyone has had a blister one time or another, a new pair of shoes, something rubs in the heel. Anyway, what I like to do is to show you some simple ways to help manage a blister. Remember, blisters are wounds and they must be taken care of. Some simple ways to do it is Vaseline. It's something to help a little bit of friction fighter. Let's say it's in the heel of a new pair of shoes. Socks, you need to be careful with socks, perhaps an additional layer of socks can help. You can also put moleskin inside your shoe to help prevent the blister from occurring. But let's say you already have the wound, there are several products that you can use. Number one is we'd like you to keep the wound site clean. If there is fluid in the blister, you want to make sure you can safely remove it. You can puncture it, don't cut the skin, just enough to debride it, and you want to make sure you keep it clean. You can use soap and water. There are other products available, second skins where you have different sizes. Let's say you have a bigger blister, you can use this one. They're very easy to cut down to size. They also have smaller sizes to use for smaller blisters. Please remember don't pull on the skin, keep it clean, obviously, look for signs of infection. If there is an infection, you want to make sure you keep it clean again. Good luck with your blisters.
