QUIN SNYDER: Just a few key things about shooting a lay-up. First of all, it is probably the most basic shot and one that you need to develop or work on, really, when you start the game. Justin Bowen is going to demonstrate for us how to shoot a lay-up. The first thing we want to look at is going off his left foot with his right hand. That allows you to run in to your shot. And that is the key thing, really, about a lay-up because you are allowed to shoot the ball on the move efficiently. So you watch him on the right side, he will shoot with his right hand and jump off his left foot. Pretty good. His coach gets mad at him when he does not make those. One of the things you will notice is that Justin put the ball on the corner of the backboard, and that is a great way for you to find a target and to be really efficient, particularly when you are younger. Justin can probably stretch out and he does not need to use the backboard a lot of times, but he did on that occasion. I want you to see this time, Justin is going to shoot an overhand lay-up. You can shoot an overhand lay-up or an underhand lay-up depending on where your hand is. I wanted him to demonstrate that because for a young guy starting out in the game, you are not able to get up that high and shoot an underhand lay-up, so it is important for you to learn to shoot an overhand lay-up. The last thing we want to show you is the importance of being able to shoot with both hands. Do not worry about shooting with your off hand, in his case the left hand, until you have mastered the right hand. But let us see Justin shoot left handed. Just switch sides.
