RON COLBY: Okay, what we are going to show you today is how to Texas rig bait. And what new Texas rig, what it really does for you is help you keep you weedless or rock less here and not getting snugged up. What we are going to rig here is a Gary Yamamoto Senko. It's like the number one, most popular plastic bait on the market right now for kitchen bass, but you can catch anything on it, trout, [SOUNDS LIKE} wallie, a lot of different species of fish. What you want to start out with is you really want to hook, you know, it is kind of fit about half way down into the bait. So, what you want is a hook that will get you about half way into the back of the bait, right here where the egg sac is where there's no ribs. This hook right here is a five ought Gamakatsu wide gap hook. What we are going to do with this is you will take this hook and you will put it right here in the nose, push it up to about where the bent starts back. And then, what we will do is we are going to bring the hook out of the bait, then we are going to slide the bait all the way up pass the eye and the L band on the hook. And then what we will do is we take the hook, check and see where it is going to go through the bait at, kind of mark it with your fingers, just kind of pinch in the bait a little bit, and bring that hook and go straight down through the bait, bring it back up. So, now what you've got is you got a nice inline profile with the bait. But the Texas rig it. Now, what we are going to do is make it weedless for you, and so it will help come to the weeds, and the grass, or even rocks, trees, anything real nice. You slide it back up 'til the bait starts hitting the barb just a little bit, and push back up on to the bait, and pull back on to it. So now, the point of the hook is kind of exposed, or buried, not exposed onto the hook, and it's buried in. And what you want to do is just press on the bait enough so you can barely feel the point of the hook coming out of the bait.
