RON COLBY: Hey folks, what we are going to show you now is how to tie a really basic knot onto any hook, jig--and very simple, very quick. What we want to do is start your line in this. We're going to call this a tag end. So, we got the jig head, we got the tag end of line, you put it through the eye of the hook, bring it out, give yourself six or eight inches. Take the tag end; push it back through the eye of the hook where you just came out. So, now you got the both ends, both sides of the line going through the eye of the hook and what you want to do is just do a basic overhand knot, like you are going to tie your shoes. Pull this line down so it's on to your finger, like this little bit, and you got this loop in the line, right here. Take this loop, bring your jig or your hook through the loop, pull it up onto the line. Now, we've got this. Keep this loop in up above what I call the knot end, and just kind of cinch it down a little bit, cinch it down real tight, pull up on the tag end, and cut it off. Very quick knot, very strong knot. That's called the Palomar Knot.
