SAMUEL ROBERTS: Hi, this is Sam Roberts, your field hockey coach again. Today, we are going to talk a little bit more about playing forward in field hockey. You position your stick like this and you swing and you step in, and you just drive the ball through some kind of--drive the ball through that way. That is just a regular hit. There is a slap shot, which is like a field hockey but with stick. You hold here and you do your slap. Slap the ball. A regular hit. A slap. There is another position called a push where I usually put the stick on the ball and you move it like this where you push the ball. You actually--and there is another position called a flick where you get the stick under the ball and you scoop it up. For the hit, this is your hand position, and it is a smooth process. You swing it back and you come and hit. Pull back, you come and you drive the ball through. You follow the stick through. It is a smooth process, and you carry it through. I will hit the ball and show you the process. We will go from here and you control this, control the end. And there are players around you, so you swing through but you control it. Do not let the stick go up over your shoulder. That is a hit. Another hit, we will strike the ball. This one is called a slap shot, which is similar to ice hockey where you hold the stick just about halfway. The same movement, you come back and you slap it. It is a slap shot. There is also the push where the stick is facing contact with the ball and you kind of get this rocket. You kind of push the ball from--I move the ball. That is the movement. It is--that is called a push. There is another very important play which is the flick, where you get under the ball. You get the stick under and you actually raise the ball up just like.
