TOM CLIFFORD: Now, I'm going to demonstrate to you how to stretch the shoulder. The best way to stretch your shoulder is to cross your arm over your chest. Take your opposite arm and pull on your elbow. You're going to pull in, you're going to feel this on the top of your deltoid and in the posterior part of the shoulder and I'm going to hold this for about 15 to 30 seconds. Notice my palm is down on this exercise or in the stretch and I can turn my palm up and that's going to change the feeling that I feel in my shoulder. So that's two ways to stretch your shoulder, palm's down, palm's up. After you get done with that, I can swing my arm out a little bit, both arms, I just kind of get my chest in the front of my shoulders and I can rotate my arm forward a little bit with that, nice and slow. You don't have to go fast and then rotate my arm back and back as one more. You want to keep slow and you'll feel the front of your shoulder, turn your body a little bit. You'll feel a little bit of a--when you're going back, you'll feel a little bit of your shoulder doesn't want to go in the right direction all the time, so you kind of have to force it that way to increase flexibility to that shoulder. Wave your arms back again and then repeat on the other side. That's how you stretch the shoulder.
