ROBERT LINDE: Acupuncture can be very effective in helping with some of the problems with infertility. And there's two main approaches that we look at when working with fertility. One is just a set protocol that we oftentimes utilize right before a patient goes to get IVF or In Vitro Fertilization. But ultimately, the best way for us to work with fertility issues for a woman is to have them come in for a period of time before they are trying to get pregnant and so that we can utilize things like diet and lifestyle, acupuncture, herbs and all of those things can make a real difference. But there's a number of very common points that are used for the fertility issues that are just very common. A lot of them are in the abdomen or they can be anywhere in the body based on exactly what is going on from a good Chinese diagnostic point of view. Or we can palpate for the points and basically we are going to help her chi a little bit. A lot of times, that is all people need, is a little bit of a boost to the chi and that can be enough to help push them over the edge to normalize things so that a woman can get pregnant very easily. It oftentimes takes a number of treatments. And when dealing with fertility, I really do recommend working with someone who is a specialist with fertility because it is much more complicated. It takes a little bit more work working from both the Chinese as well as the western standpoint.
