Children learn by example, so if you have good grammar and good speech and good English, they will as well. Make sure you label things in your house, so that they know the proper names for things. It's okay to do baby talk for a while, but you need to get away from that as soon as possible, so that children know exactly what you're talking about and what others are talking about. If you have family pet names for things, it makes it very difficult for a child to go out into the real world and take those same pet names, because then communication becomes very difficult with other people. So when you're teaching English to your child, you need to make sure that number one, you set a good example and that you talk, talk, talk.
