Spelling is very important and it's very easy for children to learn to spell once they have mastered some of the basics of phonemic awareness and sound blending. Spell words a lot with your children. Make sure that your child is aware that you are spelling a word. As you are sounding out words, you may want to write the letters the same time you're sounding them out. For example, you may want to write cat, C-A-T, making sure that your child sees the letter as you say the letter. Another thing is to make sure that a child knows where letters are in words. For instance, you may have the child to spell the word child. Where is the letter I, where is the letter L, where is the letter C, having them to be aware of the positions of those letters in words. Spelling is one of those skills that is very difficult sometimes, to master. However, the more you work on spelling, the easier spelling becomes.
