ADAM SHUTY: Hi, my name is Adam Shuty. I am Tai Chi instructor here at Energy Gym in New York City. Welcome to the beginner's guide of Tai Chi. Today, I am going to show you a little Chen style Tai Chi, which is one of three branches of Tai Chi's main lineages. Tai chi is great. It gives you good balance, it roots you to the ground, it teaches flexibility. Balance is your energy and allows you to just have a freedom of thought and function that is not comparable to any other sports that is out there. Plus you can do it with little or no equipment. Breathing in, I separate my feet and provide a firm base underneath me. I breathe with the movement, breathing in, my lung is open. I breathe out and I move to my right. Always moving from my center and remaining balanced and rooted to the ground. Relax. Breathing in, breathing out. Breathing in, breathing out. It is a form of self defense and a great way to stay in shape.
