DEL WARREN: Today we're going to start--we're just going to talk about the basics of bowling and it's fairly simple. You have an approach here that you can use a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 step approach. The only rules that USBC says is you got to stay behind this foul line here, you're not allowed to do that or you get zero. The other way to get zero obviously is to throw in the gutter, we don't want to do that. Some bowling centers have bumpers for the kids, that's makes it a lot of fun. But really, you have a lane that's approximately 60 foot long, its 39 boards wide and you have 10 pins at the end and you get two shots to knock them all down. Now, of course if you knock them down with one ball, you--it's a 300 game and that's certainly exciting. But if you don't and you get it, that's a spare and now remember how we score this in bowling, the way you do that is a strike is 10 plus the next two bowling bowls and a spare is the 10 plus the next ball and that's how you come up with the scoring in bowling. Some of you--I grew up bowling when you actually kept score by hand if you can believe that. Today we have automatic scoring when you go to the bowling center and so I explain that and people don't really understand how they get their score so that's one of the first things that we cover for get--beginner bowler. Next thing is we want to talk about is some of the spots here on the lanes that we use for targeting. You could see here at the foul line, there are--I believe seven dots, there's one on each board--one on each five boards, excuse me. So right here on the number five board, you have a dot, ten, so on. The big dot right here is 20 which is right in the middle of the lane and so on down over here to the left side of the lane. Again, there's 39 boards on the lane, its 60 foot long with 10 pins at the end. And then coinciding with these dots, you have a set of arrows out there that traditionally that's what people use to target.
