SAFI THOMAS: Hi I am Safi Thomas. I am the artistic director of the Hip Hop Dance Conservatory here in New York City. In this clip, we are going to show you how to break. Most commonly termed as breakdance which is a misnomer, it is really called breaking. So what we are going to do is we are going through some simple things that you can do for breaking, starting off with a simple Uprock. This first one we are going to do is called the Indian step. It is the most common one, here we go. So this is the Indian step. And this Indian step can also be used as a transition step into floor work. But we will get to that in a second. Now from there we are going to go to our Uprock. Now from here, we are going to take it the floor and do it one step. So we are going to do a rock down. We are going to rock it down, one step, come back up. So there. Then, rock it down, one step. Now, from my one step we are going to go to what is called CC's named after the crazy commandos, okay. And it comes from another movement called the Russian tap. So you come in right here. When you put your hands on the floor, if you will look at that, your palm is never here. It is always here to protect your wrist and the flexibility of your fingers. So here we go for CC's. Six, seven. Here we go we got. And that is how to break.
