BOB HUNT: In this clip, I'm going to talk to you about how to choose a racket. Now, if you're just playing for fun with family and friends and stuff, most of the time, you're going to buy a set. A badminton set. It's going to come with everything that you need, including about four rackets. Now, these rackets, what you want to make sure is that the rackets strings are tight. None of those strings are broken, but the tighter they are is the better that they're going to hit the shuttlecock. You want a long neck on them and a good grip on a handle. Anytime you go buy one of these pretty much used or new at one of your sporting retailers, you pretty much going to get the same type of racket. Now, if you'll move up to the pro level, they're going to be a little bit more heavier. The angle might be a little bit rounder, but you really going to get some tightness in that. That's where you get the good bounce off of the shuttlecock, plus the better the racket, the more spin you can get when you actually hit the birdie different ways. But as far as a racket's concern, you want to make sure it's lightweight, tighten strings, easy to swing, a long neck. It's nothing like a tennis racket. This thing is super light and it's got a good balance to it. It's got a real good grip. And again, the strings are really tight. You want to be able to swing the racket comfortably with both hands and both ways. And of course, don't be banging them or anything like that. But as far as choosing a good racket, these kind of things can run anywhere from five dollars all the way up to about $150. It's just depends on what level you want to play at. Out here in the park with family and friends, we're just going to use the rackets that the set came with.
