JAY GOLDEN: There are many situations where it comes in handy and it is even preferred in terms of judging distance, it is really a lot easier to judge distance with this type of a pitch shot than a high one for sure or even a medium one, you can get a feel for this low one. And to hit this, you play the ball back in your stance, you put your hands way in front and you hit down on it. You take a pretty deep divot. Your feet are very close together, hands in front, hit down, roll, roll and then it stops, skip, skip, stop. Hands in front, ball back, hit down. If you practice this shot, start learning how to hit it from 30 yards, 40, 50, 60, maybe even 70 yards, that low pitch shot. Right here, I have a sand wedge, you could learn how to do it with a 60 degree wedge but it is a shot that you see all the pros hit when a situation calls for it, when they have a little more room for roll, when the pin is a little further back, learn how to hit that low pitch shot and that is part of teaching your wedge to talk.
