After a successful college career at Duke University , Bennett played in the National Football League (NFL), the United States Football League (USFL), the Arena Football League (AFL), and the World League of American Football (WLAF). He coached in the AFL and af2. He was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame as a player in 2000.

BEN BENNETT: How are you doing everybody? I'm Ben Bennett, head coach of the Austin Wranglers Football Team and I'm going to do my very best to teach you how to punt a football. I did a little bit in college. I had four kicks for a 49-yard average. But most of them were quick kicks, so that didn't count. When you're punting the football, you want to get your momentum going forward and you want to address the football moving that way. A lot of guys hold it differently. Some guys hold it like this. Some guys hold it on top. I prefer to hold the ball like this underneath. And when you let go of the football, you want to drop it straight down. You don't want it to go nose down or tail down, you want it drop and comes straight down. When it lands on your foot, you want that ball to hit at just about that angle. And when you swing through the ball, if you address it correctly, it'll come off and it'll spiral and it'll turn over, and that's when you get the most distance. Some guys have a two-step drop. Some guys have a three. What I do, is make the catch on the ball, you take one step, put the ball out in front and then when you step to address, you drop the ball out and bring your leg out. So I'll do it one quick time. Don't see where the ball goes, because it may not go very far. Make the catch, take the step, drop the ball and address. And hopefully, you just learn how to punt a football.
