BEN BENNETT: Hey everybody. I'm Ben Bennett, head coach of the Austin Wranglers. I'm here to tell you a little bit about how to throw the football. I was very fortunate in college to have played under our first time offensive coordinator named Steve Spurrier. And I was the first quarterback in the fun and gun offense, before it was called the fun and gun. What I'm going to tell you a little bit about the basics about how to throw a football and how to throw it well. Different guys have different preferences about how hold onto to the football, but based on your preference, you want at least a couple of fingers on the laces. It doesn't have to be all of them. You don't have to grip it all the way up in the middle of the laces. But hold the ball down towards the end with your index finger towards the back end of the ball. When you're getting ready to release the football, it's a different rotation. When your arm goes back and it comes forward, the hand now rotates outward instead of inwards. When you throw a baseball, your hand comes across like that. When you throw a football, your hand comes out like that. So what Andy will do now, is he'll turn sideways and when you throw the football, what you want to do is rotate your body and let the arm be the last thing that comes through and your index fingers should be pointing right at where your target is. So you stand back, go ahead and get a rotation, Andy and throw the football. And you can see when Andy finishes, you see where his hand is, his hand has come all the way through and he's followed through. So it starts in the back, follows all the way through and the ball comes off your hand, and that's how to throw a spiral.
