After a successful college career at Duke University , Bennett played in the National Football League (NFL), the United States Football League (USFL), the Arena Football League (AFL), and the World League of American Football (WLAF). He coached in the AFL and af2. He was inducted into the Arena Football Hall of Fame as a player in 2000.

BEN BENNETT: I'm Ben Bennett, head coach of the Austin Wranglers of the Arena Football II League, and I'm here to teach you how to throw a deep ball. My quarterback Andy Hall will demonstrate for me, as he throws a good deep ball, and probably he is good as anybody on our league, maybe better than the most. When you are playing a football, most of the time your feet are about a foot apart, shoulder length apart, your knees are bent, and when you're stepping into it, you take a short step, and you want your body to rotate through it. When you throw a deep ball, it is the same thing, except that now you are going to take a little bit longer step, and your body angle is going to be a little bit different. So, Andy will throw a regular ball right here; will be straight up and down, his knees bend, his feet about shoulder length apart. Okay, and his body length will be going forward, as he is ready to throw that ball. But if you are throwing a deep ball, you've got to get some elevation on it, so, you've got to get a little more juice on it. So, when he comes off that back foot, and starts to move forward, now his body angle will go from here to there. So, go ahead, Andy just take one step back, he leans back, and as he throws it, again follows through, that is the ball go deep. And hopefully it lands in your receivers hands, you score a touchdown, all the better. And that is how to throw the deep ball.
