RACHAEL RICHARDSON: Hi. I'm Rachael Richardson, and I'm a registered dietitian and a licensed nutritionist. I'm from Nutrolution, Inc., and we are located in Miami, Florida. This is a beginner's guide to changing your diet. One of the most important things to establish in the beginning is why you're changing your diet. I know there are a lot of people out there that want to change their diet simply to lose weight, but a lot of people actually find more success when they find other reasons to change their diets, so really know what your reasons are. So, for instance, did you know that you can actually improve the level of pain that you have in your body? By changing your diet, did you know that you can improve your energy levels, your sleep, your hormone balance, your brain function, all of these things are key reasons to change your diet, so the more of these keys that you focus in on the more likely you're going to succeed at changing. Another important part of changing your diet is to become educated. This is key and the most important part about this is that as you learn why certain foods are healthy and why other foods are toxic, it's going to naturally help you decide which foods to eat without having to look back to a diet book and look at a list or something like that. You're going to naturally begin to know and lead yourself to the foods that are right for you. So if you focus on healthy, whole foods, foods that either grow on trees or graze on grass or live in the ocean, this is the easiest way to determine what's right for you; and by doing this, you're going to be cutting out all the different food poisons and toxins that are in processed foods, which is one of the most important parts to changing your diet. So another thing that you can do to make sure that you change your diet properly is to consult a nutritionist. This way you can sift through all of the media and hyped nutrition information and really get the facts that you need to change your diet in the right way. So the five points to remember are know your goal; education is key; focus on whole foods; eliminate poisons; and consult a nutritionist.
