DR. CORAL ARVON: Hi, My name is Dr. Coral Arvon. I'm a licensed clinical psychotherapist with Arvon & Associates in Counseling in Aventura, Florida. This is the beginner's guide to changing your lifestyle. Change is a scary word for some, but it's very challenging for others. Changing your lifestyle might mean by changing where you live or it might mean by changing the things you do with your time. Accept change, fight your fears, be open, accept the new things in life, change the way of your thinking. If you're thinking negatively and you're thinking that you're doomed and gloomed, you're never going to be able to get out and try new things and meet new people. It's very important to be open, to be open to the new things. Improve, read motivational books, go ahead and do research on changing your lifestyle. Maybe you're going to change it completely, maybe just a little bit. It won't happen by itself; it's something that you need to do. Concentrate on exercising, on getting sleep, on changing your thoughts. Concentrate on developing a healthy lifestyle by exercising, eating properly, being around people that are positive. Negative energy does not work well in a positive lifestyle, seeking counseling if you need to, doing research, reading self-motivating books and put some challenges in front of you, fight some of your fears. The five important things to remember are to accept change, to get rid of your fears and be open, to take life's challenges and try new things, to eat healthy and get plenty of sleep.
