RACHAEL RICHARDSON: Hi, I'm Rachael Richardson and I'm a registered dietician and a licensed nutritionist. I'm from Nutrolution Inc. and we are located in Miami, Florida. This is a beginner's guide to exercising at the office. Now you might think that your employer may not benefit from you exercising at the office, but in fact most employers now are including employee wellness and exercise programs because we've realized that the more the you exercise, the happy you are, the more productive you are, the more efficient you are and the nicer you are to be around. So all in all, it's a win-win situation because by exercising, your employer is going to be happier and you're going to be a happier person and a healthier person. So some simple tips to remember as far as exercising at the office are to--if your employer has a gym, to make sure that you get in there and use it. You can use it--right after work is a favorite time because that way you can avoid rush-hour traffic. Other things that you can do are bringing dumbbells and a mini-trampoline into your office and use those during break time. You can organize a group or just yourself and a co-worker. Go for a walk during a break or during lunchtime and you can use stairs instead of an elevator as many times as possible throughout the day. Another key thing that isn't exactly exercise but achieves many of the benefits is to make sure to maintain good posture and to breathe consciously throughout the day. The five most important things to remember are: if you have a gym at work, use it; if you can, find a gym membership that's close to your work; use your breaks effectively by jumping on a trampoline or taking a walk; make sure that you maintain good posture and breathing throughout the day. And a healthier person is going to be a happier person and you're going to enjoy your co-workers more.
