JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to create a skin care regimen for oily skin. Some people see their oily skin as a problem, but the positive side of an oily complexion is fewer wrinkles later in life. No matter what your age, you can create a skin care regimen for oily skin that will keep you looking and feeling your best. Oily skin is prone to blackheads, so it's important to keep your face very clean. The pores are usually enlarged which allows impurities to settle into them. Oily skin requires special cleansing with plenty of hot water and gentle soap to prevent bacteria from clogging pores, but you want to avoid over washing the face also. Over-washing can stimulate the skin to produce even more oil. Choose a facial wash that is especially formulated for oily skin. Read the label. If it contains alcohol, don't use it. If you're under 30 years old, you may not even need moisturizer after cleansing oily skin. For those over age 30, choose a light oil-free moisturizer. The last thing you want to do is add even more oil to your pores. Exfoliating and using a clay mask once a week can also help an oily complexion. Certain astringents can help to dry up excess oil, but, again, read the label and try to avoid alcohol-containing products. As you can see, it's easy to deal with oily skin if you remember to wash several times a day with soap and hot water. Exfoliate, use astringent and try a clay mask.
