JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to create a skin care regimen for combination skin. Combination skin is typically described as an oily T-zone with dryness everywhere else. The T-zone is your forehead, nose and chin, which tend to be oilier than the cheeks and more prone to breakouts. Combination skin is very common. There are many products available for combination skin and it should be treated as two types of skin. For the T-zone or oily areas, wash with soap and hot water. Apply astringent or PH-balancing toner using cotton balls on the forehead, nose and chin. Then, use light moisturizer at night and light moisturizer with sunscreen during the day. For the dry areas of your face, you want to avoid hot water and stick with lukewarm or cool. You can use a PH-balancing toner on the dry sections, but experts recommend avoiding astringents. Use a heavier moisturizer in the dry zone or choose one product that is formulated just for combination skin. Remember, when creating a skin care regimen for combination skin, avoid using hot water on the dry areas and keep the T-zone oil free.
