JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to make a facial mask. Did you know we get a whole new outer skin every 30 days? Old cells slough off and are replaced by new cells. One way to help remove these dead cells and nourish the face at the same time is by using a facial mask. There are many types of masks available for all skin types, from oily to dry to combination skin. I'm going to show you how to make an oatmeal-yogurt-honey facial mask. The honey soothes on contact and has well-established antioxidant and anti-microbial effects, which helps explain its contributions to wound healing. The yogurt smooths and moisturizes the skin and refines the pores. It's always a good idea to check with your doctor before trying any home remedies. For the yogurt-honey-oatmeal mask, I'm going to mix half a cup of plain yogurt with a quarter cup of honey in a bowl. You can microwave the honey if it's not soft enough, and then I'm going to take a little packet of oatmeal and I'm going to crush it up in the food processor. And then, we'll add it to the yogurt and honey mixture. And then, you take two or three tablespoons and put it all over your entire face avoiding the eyes. Leave the mask on for 5 to 10 minutes. Wash thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry. Try it once a week for a brighter, smoother, hydrated skin. Remember to use plain yogurt instead of flavored and make sure to pat dry rather than rubbing your face after rinsing. You can see how easy it is to make your own natural facial mask at home with ingredients you may already have on hand.
