JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to use toner to treat acne. Acne can afflict people of any age though it's quite common in the teenage years. Acne can be as simple as a few blackheads and whiteheads or it can be more serious, but nobody wants to suffer with acne. It's important to develop a regular routine for taking care of your face. Even though common sense seems to tell you that washing your face will help clear up acne, washing it too much can actually aggravate the condition by irritating pores and causing them to become clogged. Scrubbing with a washcloth can also aggravate acne. The best advice is to wash twice a day gently with bare hands. After washing, using a toner can help control bacteria but it can also irritate and cause dryness. So choose a toner that is specially formulated for acne as it will say on the label. Soak a cotton ball in the toner and then gently glide it over the troubled areas of your face, paying special attention to the T-zone, forehead, nose and chin. Let the toner dry and then follow up with an oil-free lotion specially designed for acne. Remember, when using toner to treat acne, don't over-wash your face. Twice a day is sufficient and choose a product formulated for acne.
