JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to create hot compress for acne. Acne can afflict people of any age though it's quite common in the teenage years. Acne can be as simple as a few blackheads and whiteheads or it can be more serious with pustules and cysts, but nobody wants to suffer with acne. The sebaceous glands in our skin produce oil that lubricates the skin and hair, but these glands can get clogged up, resulting in acne. A pimple forms when bacteria grows out of control and causes inflammation. Using hot compresses can help treat the inflammation and speed healing. Use a hot compress for 10 minutes every couple of hours to bring white blood cells to the area and speed healing or try it once a week for less severe cases. To make a hot compress, soak a soft washcloth in hot water; don't burn yourself. Wring it out and lay it on your face until it cools off. Repeat the process several times over a 10-minute period. The heat will open your pores, and now you can use extraction to remove impurities. Do not squeeze the blemishes with your fingers. This can cause scarring and lead to infection. You can buy an extraction tool at most beauty supply stores. To close the pores and keep out impurities, do a final rinse with cold water. Remember, when creating a hot compress for treating acne, be careful not to burn yourself.
