JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to treat acne with mesotherapy. Acne can afflict people of any age, but, of course, it's quite common in the teenage years. Acne can be as simple as a few blackheads and whiteheads or it can be more serious, but nobody wants to suffer with acne. The sebaceous glands in our skin produce oil that lubricates the skin and hair, but these glands can get clogged up, resulting in acne. Mesotherapy originated in Europe and has been used for more than 50 years there to treat a variety of conditions including acne. It's not a procedure you do yourself. A doctor does it for you by injecting small amounts of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and medicine into your skin. To treat acne with mesotherapy, find a doctor in your area that offers mesotherapy services. Schedule a consultation and ask to see before-after photos of patients who have been treated with mesotherapy for acne. The doctor may want to test a small patch of skin for allergies before doing the actual treatment. Since the solution is injected, there may be some pain involved, but your doctor can prescribe a numbing cream to ease the pain. Typically, mesotherapy treatments are performed once a week or once every other week depending on your doctor's recommendation. Remember, if you're considering using mesotherapy to treat acne, be sure to locate a doctor who has experience in this type of treatment and ask to see their before-after photos before scheduling the treatment.
