JACKIE SILVER: I'm Jackie Silver with how to use lemon to treat acne. Acne can afflict people of any age. Of course, it's quite common in the teenage years. Acne can be as simple as a few blackheads and whiteheads or it can be more serious, but nobody wants to suffer with acne. The sebaceous glands in our skin produce oil that lubricates the skin and hair, but these glands can get clogged up, resulting in acne. There are many natural home remedies out there, but as always, it's best to check with your doctor before trying any of them. Using lemon to treat acne is a popular home remedy. You'll need a lemon, a sharp knife, spring water, cotton balls and a small bowl. Roll the whole lemon on the countertop to release the juice and make it easier to cut. Cut the lemon in half and then add it to the spring water. If you have sensitive skin, you want to add more water. Dip the cotton ball in the lemon water and dub it onto the spots you want to treat. If it burns continuously, then wash it off after 10 minutes. If it doesn't burn, you can even leave it on overnight. Cover the diluted juice and refrigerate. You can apply the lemon in the morning and at night, but discontinue it if it becomes irritated. Remember, if you're treating acne with lemon juice, be sure to dilute the lemon so as not to irritate your skin and refrigerate the leftover juice.
