RACHAEL RICHARDSON: Hi. I'm Rachael Richardson, and I'm a registered dietician and a licensed nutritionist. I'm from Nutrolution, Inc. and we are located in Miami, Florida. This is a beginner's guide to treating anxiety naturally with herbs. This is a great topic because a lot of people out there have anxiety and there's a lot that you can do both with herbs and nutrition to remedy anxiety. So starting with, most people this day and age, the day and age of Starbucks are including coffee or caffeine into their daily diet. That's about the best thing that you can do is to remove caffeine if you're experiencing anxiety. What you can replace it with are green tea or herbal tea. Now, you might think that green tea has caffeine, so that may not accomplish the goal, but in fact green tea has very, very little caffeine. Not only that, but it includes an amino acid by the name of theanine, which is very well known and well researched for really cutting anxiety and making you feel relaxed. It triggers good neurotransmitters in your brain. Herbal teas that you can include are things like chamomile and hops and spearmint. All of these really kind of tonify your body and make you feel more relaxed. Other nutrients that I love to include with my clients who are experiencing anxiety and myself at those times are GABA, which is a neurotransmitter, a precursor to the neurotransmitter dopamine, and probiotics are actually another huge factor for reducing anxiety because they help you in your intestines produce more neurotransmitters. The five points to remember are remove coffee, include green tea, include herbal tea, start taking probiotics, and include aromatherapy
