The Fat Smash Diet was made popular by Ian K. Smith on VH1's Celebrity Fit Club. The premise of this diet, behind the name, is actually smashing your diet misconceptions and your bad habits in order to lose weight. In this particular plan, again, it focuses on healthy eating and exercise. It includes four phases and each phase has a particular purpose. The first phase is nine days long and it's called the detox phase. In this particular phase, you're eliminating a lot of foods to basically detoxify your body. So that means you're avoiding alcohol. You're also avoiding most types of meats. What you're getting your protein from is going to be mostly vegetable sources things like tofu. You would also include things like soy milk. You can still have non-fat dairy, things like skim milk or low-fat yogurt. You can still include eggs. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, whole grains. The second phase of the diet is called the foundation phase. In here, you're adding back a few more foods including a few types of lean meat, things such as tuna fish, lean turkey, that type of meat, still including those fruits and vegetables and the whole grains. You're still avoiding refined grains, refined foods, extra sugars, still avoiding caffeine. In your third phase, this is the construction phase, again, you're maintaining those changes that you made in the first two phases but you get to include a few more things. One of the other things you get to include is something like whole grain pasta, a much better choice than the refined pasta. And then, the last phase is called the temple and this is where you're treating your body as a temple, maintaining all of the changes that you've already made but adding back some of the things that you had been avoiding. In this particular phase, you can include your coffee, you can even include your beer and wine that you've been avoiding, but you want to keep a focus on making sure that you continue to exercise and practice portion control.
