We're going to talk about the giant swing on uneven bars now. This, as you get to the highest levels of optionals, is a very basic skill. The girls are basically swinging around the bar with an extended body. The timing on this is very important. The girls have to hit the right shape with their body at the right time to make it swing around the bar. Once they cast their handstand as they're coming down in the first part of the giant--they have a low bar here--so they have to hollow or bend their body slightly, curve their body. As they clear the low bar, they'll extend their body all the way through the bottom of the swing and then on the upswing, they have to pull on the bar and tap their feet up into a hollow position again to shorten their body length to fight against gravity and make it go around the bar. The giants can be done in different directions and with different grips with their hands. These girls are doing a back giant, which means that once they cast the handstand, the first part of it, they're falling towards their stomach, towards the ground. As they tap up over the bar, their back is down to the ground. If they were doing a front giant, they would reverse their hand grip. They would turn their hands backwards. The first part of the fall would be towards their back. And as they swing up in the front part of the swing, their stomach will be down towards the ground. So it is almost literally the reverse of the back giant.
