Hi, my name is Adrian Heath. I'm the head coach of the Austin Aztex, and now we're just going to do a little demonstration of the role of a midfield player. A midfield player is the engine room of the team, the busy people in the middle of the pitch. Their job in general is to support the attack when we are going forward, and to defend and help to defend when we're defending this half of the field. So they are the very busy men. We're just going to do a little drill here of maybe how to get the ball from the defensive half into the attacking half. So we if just walk through it now. So if you come and play the usual drill. Yeah, [PH] Kirby. And there you go. And that's two midfield players combining to go pass their midfield player and now to start the attack again. So we'll just walk through it again. Notice the little combination play. They've sucked the defender in, and then they all know what they're doing. They're on the same wave of length, and then they play in then they go one touch around the corner and same again. Try to keep hold of it, [PH] Esi. Let's go again. So just a couple of little drills of trying to get from one side of that midfield to the other side of that midfield. So in we come. He's going little two-touch drill. In he goes and off he go, and now they're attacking, attacking the goal. So there's many ways you can do it. It's up to you how you do it. Some people may be dribble it and have it roll across you. He's going to show you now where he lets it run across his body. He then is going to try to intercept the ball, but he's going to run across his body. He's going to drill it across the front of him. This time if you can let it go across you, Carlos, the other way. So this time, he looked as though he was going to play and went across him. This time, he will look as though as he is going to play to the front man and let it go across him, and there you go. And he is going the other way and out he goes that way. Just three of the four little examples of midfield play to get from this end of the field to that end of the field.
