Hey everybody, Scott Vail here. You are watching Expert Village. We are coming from Keystone Mountain, overlooking beautiful Dylan Lake with Breckenridge in the background. Today, we are going to be going over some advanced skiing techniques. A great exercise before you even hit the mountains, before ski season even starts, before snow even falls is poling. Now what you want to do is get your poles out, get your boots out and find a nice hill (not too steep, but definitely not flat). You are going to want to take giant steps with this. You are going to support yourself with your pole. So you are going to pole, step, pole, step. This is going to work your quads and it's also going to work your shoulders. Now, it is exhausting, especially in high climate atmospheres, but it's a great way to get in shape. Now here's another real easy stretch you can do on the base mountain before you hit the gondola. What you want to do is using your poles for balance, put your poles out and try and get as low as possible. It's not only going to stretch out here, but it's also going to stretch out the back hamstrings. This is a real good stretch for the skier. You're trying to get as low as possible. The lower you get, the more you are stretching those muscles out.
