Hi, my name is Adrian Heath, head coach of the Austin Aztex, and now we're going to demonstrate the slide tackle. The slide tackle invariably is used when a team is defending and looks like they're going to be in very, very difficult trouble to defend the goal. It's normally a last-ditch tackle. It's normally the last option before you let the player go. So what we're going to try and demonstrate here, as the player runs away, that you're recovering as he's going to be recovering and slide across and try to put the ball out of play; or if you could keep the ball, even better, just to stop the guy. So off you go then, [PH] Carlos, for me. And as you can see as he is behind me and he slides in and slides across. Let's come back and do it again. We got another one here, Carlos. Now, the important thing before he starts is to watch the timing. If you're going to go to the ground trying to get the ball, if you don't get the ball, the guy is in. He's going to go on to goal and maybe score. You have to make sure that when you do the sliding tackle, when you hit the floor, that you get the ball. So let's go again, fellows. And there you go. He's got a little bit on it and it's gone, and we got a throw. And now, we got a chance to let everybody get behind the ball to do it again. So I'm going to pass it now, so I want you to do it a little bit quicker. And then after he's got his touch, [PH] Esi, see if you can make a tackle or slide tackle. So there's the ball. And as he's chasing him, he's having his touch and there he goes across and managed to play him, and actually we'll retain the ball out because we've got to throw it. So let's go through that one more time, fellows. So he's in front of Esi. Now, he's having a touch. As he's waiting to have a touch, and he slid in and put it across. And now we would have a throw-in, where we get everybody back behind the ball. And that is the slide tackle.
