South Beach Diet is a very popular low-carbohydrate diet. The nice thing with this diet is that when you do have your carbohydrates, you are choosing carbohydrates that are the best for you. For example, at the point where you can have whole grains, definitely whole grain breads such as this over a white, refined bread. As well as when you're including fruits, you're going to be including whole fruits, things like berries over fruit juices. Your vegetables, you're going to make sure you're including non-starchy vegetables, things such as leafy greens like spinach or salad-type vegetables. Your meats are going to be very lean sources of meats, things like canned tuna or other sources of fish, chicken without the skin, lean cuts of beef. When you include dairy products, you're also going to be looking at healthy types of cheese such as mozzarella which is naturally lower fat because it is made with part-skim milk. This particular diet is very well balanced and that you're including some type of healthy carbohydrate, lean protein, and healthy fat at each meal. Some other sources of healthy fat include things like olive oil as well as nut butter such as a peanut butter. And, again, you're balancing each one of your meals and being sure that you feel satisfied that you're not under eating at each of your meals.
