Video Transcript

Best Life Diet was created by Bob Greene and was made famous by Oprah Winfrey. This particular plan really focuses on lifestyle change and emphasizes healthy eating and following a daily exercise plan. In particular, before you start this program, it really emphasizes the person assessing their readiness to change. The actual program consists of three phases. The first phase is a minimum of four weeks and in that particular phase you slowly increase your activity and work on it on changing your eating habits. The focus is on eating whole grain foods, lean meats, non-fat or low-fat dairy products including plenty of fruits and vegetables. You also want to spread these foods out over four to five meals. Some of the items that could be included will be things like a soy milk. You could also use a whole grain pasta such as a whole wheat pasta, vegetables such as spinach, fruits such as grapefruits, whole grain breads, peanut butter for healthy fats. The second phase of the program is a little bit more intensive where you're increasing your physical activity, also eliminating six problem foods. The third phase is the maintenance phase. This is where you begin to really focus on maintaining the changes that you've already made, focusing on portion control, and making sure that you continue to eat small frequent meals.
