Another way to ease your baby's discomfort from teething is to use teethers, and there's lots of them on the market. A common one that is seen often are these plastic water-filled teethers. I don't recommend these. With all the information out there about plastics and the bad chemicals that are in them right now, this is the last thing you're going to want to put in your baby's mouth. Plus, if they already have teeth, they can puncture these and the fluid in here can leak. If you do choose to use these, though, don't put them in the freezer, just put them in the fridge because they get too cold in the freezer. But there's so many other good ones on the market that you really don't need to use the plastic ones. What I like are the wood teethers because they're natural and any color that they have in them are nontoxic colors, especially if you get them from a good, reputable company. I like the ones from Germany, like Haba or Selecta. They have really, really nice first teethers for babies. Easy to hold, easy to put in their mouth. They also make fun little noises that they can play with. What this is good for is that it gets back on the back of the gums, which it seems like babies really like to teethe on. Something like this, too, it's a fun toy. It's also a great teether, again, because they can get in the back. They have lots of different ones that you can find. You can even find natural wood ones that have no dye at all, and those are great as well. Some babies and parents prefer softer things for babies to teethe on. Some of the little lovies that they have, little blanket lovies, with little heads are great because they provide a firm part for the babies to chew on. So something that has a protruding thing, like a beak, or a head, or even the feet they can chew on. One with ears is great, or the little nose. I like the elephant because the elephant's snout is really long, and again, they can get all the way on the back gums. Babies seem to really like this elephant. These are little baby cozies that we really like here. Another great teething toy is a sterling silver teether. This one happens to come as part of a necklace that mom wears. And the babies play with it while she's wearing it, and put it in their mouth and teethe on it, and they get the tactile playing with, they get the sound from it, and then they also get the comfort from being able to chew on it. And it's nice, because sterling silver stays cool naturally and it's very easy to clean. So these are just some ideas on some teethers, and I'll talk about the teething necklace specifically in another clip.
