Right now we're going to demonstrate post to wing defense. Now this is probably one of the toughest defensive drills. Generally you go anywhere from thirty seconds to a minute. One person is on offense, one person is on defense and one person is passing. Now, the person will go from the wing to the block. That's the only place they can go, they can't go all over the court. They have to stay in that one little area. The person on defense has to stay low, get their hand in the passing lane and they have to stay low, come back up, and so, it'll make a little more sense when we demonstrate this full speed. I'm going to pop out to the wing, get my hand in the passing lane, OK? Come on back Trish. Now the object of this is not for the offensive person to score but basically just to make that defender work, OK? Get you hand in the passing line, OK? Now some people, they may think, OK, I'm going to put my hand out which is closer to the offender person, but what you want to do is get your hand closer to the passer. That way you can still see what you're doing, where the pass is coming from and you can still see the defender, so we're going to do that again, in slow motion this time. Now, it's always important for me to keep my body in between the offensive person and the person who's passing. So Jen's starting to move, I have my hand up in the passing lane. The passing lane is the lane where the ball goes from one offensive person to the other. So we're going to go slow. OK, my hand is there, ready to meet the ball. She's going to go, pass the ball back, I turn my head, I have my other hand ready to go in the passing lane. Now I can still see Trish and the passer. Very important. You don't want to get caught off guard. That's post to wing defense.
