Now we are going to move on to some dribbling drills that you can do yourself. Say your friends can't come out to play and you want to still work on your game you can always work on your ball handling. So one of the first things we are going to do is the cross over. This is one of the ways that we change direction while we are trying to beat a defender. So you are going to start out, you are dribbling and then you are going to cross over in front of you. That is why it is called the cross over. As you cross over from one hand to the other you are also going to change direction. You don't just cross over in one space and then stay the same direction. Say I am going right and I make the crossover I am now going left. So I am going to do this full speed. Now you are going to want to do this full court. You want to be able to get your wind and endurance up. You want to be able just to go from baseline to baseline. I am going to show this right from half court. I am making sure I am changing direction, keeping the ball low; don't bring it above your knee. You want to come back, keep the ball low and keep your eyes up. One of the most important things when you are doing your ball handling drills is you want to keep your eyes up. You don't want to be looking at your feet or at your hands; you want to know where that defender is at all times. That was a crossover dribble. We are now going to move on to the behind the back dribble.
