One of the most important things in good basketball is good passing and the most basic in chest passing. In order to do that you want to obviously as it says is pass to the person's chest. You want to step forward if you are right handed, step forward with your right foot, if you are left handed, step forward with your left foot. When you release the ball your thumb should be down to the ground just to make your ball go nice and straight. Hit your target. We are going to demonstrate. Another important thing to remember is you want to watch the ball going into your hands. It is very easy, the game is very fast paced and if you lose sight of the ball that is a good way for turnovers to occur. So always watch the ball coming to your hand make sure that you catch it, squeeze the ball with your fingertips and then you can pass, dribble or shoot off of that. So what we are going to do now is take this into a full court drill. We are going to line up about the width of the key, we are going to pass all the way down to the other basket and we are going to make sure that we are sliding our feet; we don't want to cross our feet. This is a good way to strengthen the muscles in your legs and a good way to just have quick feet. We just did a demonstration of how you do a chest pass in a two people drill and what we are going to do now is we are going to take it all the way down to the other end of the court, do a layup and then do a layup on the other side. Also it is important to remember if you are making a left hand layup, use your left hand, if you are making one on the right side use your right hand. Just keep that in mind. Ready? Right here. That is a two passing passing drill, chest pass.
