Hi, my name is Jordan Dahl. We're talking about advanced floor gymnastics and the next skill I wanted to cover was your double; your double-full. The biggest problem with this, that I even still have a problem with is learning to keep in that twisting position. This is again where the fear comes in. You need to block that out. You need to kind of make your common sense be quiet for awhile and really train yourself to stay in that twisting position to make sure you can get all the way around and stick it safely. Alright, so, let's walk through this technique, getting a nice run out of this. You have enough power for your double. On that backhand spring, again landing with your feet in a nice neutral position, not up or completely arched back. You need to make sure you're really pounding your backhand spring to get a powerful lift out of it, so you give yourself enough time to complete both turns. So, pulling up out of that rebound, remembering to set all the way up and waiting until the climax of your set to pull. So, you get up to the top, you're going to pull in and you stay in that position all the way around even when you feel like you may be losing control. Stay tight and find your feet back on the ground. It may seem really obvious, but in order to complete your double, you need to make sure you have enough momentum. This isn't something that you can just lazily or half-heartedly pull. You need to really give it your all; give it the power that it needs to be able to complete the skill. So, I'm going to demonstrate that double-full for you. So, I demonstrated two examples of common mistakes when learning twist especially your double. One was an overshoot where you stayed in the twist too long; your feet missed the ground. You land on your back. This can be really dangerous. The next was opening up too early. That's not giving you enough time to complete your full.
