Another great shallow water workout is the underwater jumping jack. This works both your upper and lower body and increases your heart rate. You're going to start, feet together, arms at your sides, jump out and in, out and in, and what makes this different than jumping jacks on land, is you're not putting as much pressure on your knees or joints. You're still getting a great workout. Let's try it in the water now and see how it goes. Underwater jumping jacks are one of the best exercises you can do to incorporate upper and lower body workouts. It's also a great way to work on your coordination. You can start with your feet together, bring them out, in and out, and you don't have to worry about going at a certain pace because you're underwater. Go at a pace that's comfortable for you. The point is, just keep moving. It's burning lots of calories now. Try to stay in one place and make sure that you're not working too hard, and you're not sacrificing form for speed. You want to make sure that you're landing on the balls of your feet, and not just exercising on your toes.
