Now that we have our stones placed on the back, I'm moving to the leg. First, I'm going to apply liberal amounts of oil. We need a lot of oil because of the gliding of the stones. The oil absorbs into the skin pretty quickly, and we need that glide over the skin for the stones. Use your effleurage strokes; just don't rub in the oil too much. I'm going to be using my smaller, working stones. If they're very hot, you can turn them in your hands. In the beginning, we can work a little bit faster over the upper part of the leg as the stones cool, turning them in your hand like this. You do your effleurage, petrissage, moving down the bottom of the leg. The same with the petrissage; hold the stones cupped in your hand, like this, using light pressure to push and pull the tissue. Don't tense up your fingers, just have them conform around the stone. And that's the lower leg message for hot stones.
